Yes it’s that time of year again when we get to compile our favourite tunes of the year. Originally we were going to compile a Top 10 but we struggled to narrow it down so decided to select a Top 20 instead and split it over two shows, part one was broadcast last night and here are our choices.
20. The First Days Of Spring - Noah And The Whale
Yes we know that 5 Years Time was incredibly annoying after a while but The First Days Of Spring was the first taster from their 2nd Album of the same name and it blew us away and backs up our theory that all great art is created through heartbreak. Plus you can still download this track for free here:

19. Ready For War – Tonka
At number 19 we have some House music straight from Germany released on Brighton label Southern Fried. Okay it's a little bit retro but has all the hallmarks of an anthem dirty bass, big strings and piano one of our favourite dance tunes of the year.

18. Critical – Soft Toy Emergency
This ear-worm is straight out of Liverpool, pure electro pop at its finest, if this was a Girls Aloud release it would be number one in the real pop charts. We played this on it’s first release and then we played the rather fine DC Breaks remix on its re-release.

17. Bad Man Horror Theme - A1 Bassline
If you thought was Tonka had some filthy bass then at number 17 A1 Bassline gets even dirtier, the best thing to come out of Croydon since the tram and Superman Revenge Squad.

16. Knock You Out – Black Noise
Southern Fried has been our label our choice for dancefloor anthems and once again they came up trumps in 2009 with Black Noise and Knock You Out which has reached number 16 in out Top 20 tracks of 2009.

15. The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future – Los Campesinos!
I could write a whole essay on why Los Campesinos! are one of the greatest bands to emerge from the last couple of years but I will save that for another time. This is the first taster from their forthcoming Third Album Romance Is Boring which we are very excited about!

14. Auditorium - Mos Def feat Slick Rick
At Number 14 one of our favourite Hip Hop Tracks of the year moody strings and features the legend who is Slick Rick what more do you need?

13. Disappearing Act - Jonny Cola & The A-Grades
Number 13 in our chart is the supergroup formed from the ashes of Luxembourg,Rhesus and The Rocks to become the rather fantastic Jonny Cola & The A Grades, this is taken from the Yellow Mini which is an album we heavily endorse. The only video we could find on youtube was this live one.

12.Basic Space - The XX
Number 12 in the chart is The XX about the only time I band is worthy of the hype. Go buy the album you will not be disappointed.

11. Heads Will Roll - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
2009 was the year The Yeah Yeah Yeahs went and made a synth album thus creating the indie disco anthem of the year with Heads Will Roll making number 11 on our chart.
